Still with My Lovely Couple on screen, Joo Won and Uee.. I know its late cause its already 3 years since Ojakgyo Brothers has been aired in South Korea. But its better too late than never, right ?? After watching Ojakgyo Brothers on DVD, suddenly I’m falling in love with Our Lovely Couple Hwang Tae Hee and Baek Ja Eun, played by : Joo Won and Uee After School, and I Love their chemistry on screen.. They made me laugh and cry when I see them on TV.. Oh My Dear Lord, how I wish the two of them can be together in real life *sigh*

“Uee (24) has been on the receiving end of the nation’s love. Her face glows brightly and she has been living as Baek Ja-eun on KBS2 “Ojakkyo Brothers’ for the past 5 months. As ratings climbed past 30%, she literally became the nation’s younger sister. The orange earmuffs she wore in the show became a ‘real-time search word’ and even the elders greet her with words like “Hey sexy. Aren’t you Baek Ja-eun?” These are special days for someone who debut as an idol star.It’s been 4years since she debuted in 8 member girl group ‘After School”  and since then her acting career has taken off powerfully. We meet star Uee born in the year of the dragon (t/n: next year is the year of the dragon in the 12 zodiac cycle)

Ojakkyo Farm Mascot. “Since I’ve been pushed down by Gooksu, I’m now leftover rice” (meaning she’s ignored now) Thanks to the 4 brothers in the Hwang family, Ojakkyo farm was always boisterous. Snobby materialistic Ja-eun appeared on the farm and through the farm family, learned what familial love is like and became a lovely, mature young lady. As filming started in summer, past autumn and is now moving towards winter, she says she has matured a lot in a short time as an actor too. “As I was the only girl with 4 oppas, everyone took really good care of me. I had the chance to learn not just the basics of acting and movement on set, but the proper mannerisms as well”

She was the mascot on set but recently due to the appearance of child actor Gooksu (Park Huigeon), she explains that it’s a pity cause she’s now been pushed aside by him.

“Previously, when we filmed eating scenes, I was always seated next to Teacher Bokja (Kim Ja-ok). Now that Gooksu has appeared, he stole my seat overnight. Taeshik oppa (Jung Woong-in) places all the delicious side dishes in front of Gooksu. I’m now considered ‘leftover rice’ that is about to fall off the table. Haha”

Stuck with the label “Singer-turned actress” she worked many times as hard as others but in previous dramas she used to only worry about the script. As she filmed Ojakkyo Brothers it was the first time she felt really comfortable on set.

“I think I’ve matured 2-3 times as much as an actress. Have I become more of an adult since this is a weekend drama? Haha. At first I felt really stressed filming with such great seniors but now I feel sad that has ended. I’d love to film this till Gooksu gets married”

Dating Joo Won ?? “Haha. We’re so close maybe…….” Uee’s luck as an actress came successively. She gained favour as a top star Yoo Hae Yi in her first drama – popular Hallyu project SBS “You’re Beautiful” (2009). Then she took on the lead actress mantle with her second drama, cable tvN’s ‘Birdie Buddy” playing a golf player Sung Misoo.

Her third drama “Ojakkyo Brothers” has been 1st in weekly viewer ratings for 19 consecutive weeks, joining the ranks of a gukmin drama (nation drama). You can attribute her continuous hits to her luck in picking projects, but her rapid progress in acting can’t be ignored.

Yet, she waves it all off saying she stil has a long way to go. “I still don’t have the basic. During “You’re Beautiful”, the opportunity came so quickly that I didn’t manage to do the proper preparations. Even up till today I’m still learning from my acting instructor. I think I’m getting more and more ambitious as I act in more projects. The seniors manage to just go straight into the scene together with the cue sign. I want to learn how to grasp the character’s emotions just as quickly too”

Her partner in the show, Joowon, is also her senior at university. 185cm Joo won and 171cm Uee. When I told her “I really wish you guys would date since both of you are so well matched in height and in personality”, she burst out laughing.

“Our personalities are really similar since we are both of blood type O. Since we’re always joking around together, when it was time to film our love scenes, it was so awkward I wanted to die. Even on the day when we filmed the kiss scene, the managers went crazy trying to take pictures. We were just very awkward as asked each other what should we do.”

This is the age where she would have a lot of interest in dating. Who is her ideal type among the stars. “I have always liked guys with single eyelids. Like Gong Yoo in ‘Crucible’. I became a big fan after MBC’s ‘Coffee Prince’”

I asked Uee about her wishes for the new year. “Every year on the first day of the new year I’d type “To be happier” on the front screen of my handphone and save it.I’d wish for everyone around me and I to be happy. And for me to have a pretty love after the After School unnis have been settled(?)” (t/n: hahaha her usage of the word was weird)”

JooWon: been having fun watching them but I am the youngest.

Narrator says TH and J couple’s love elicits the most interest from the viewers. Joo won is doing some kind of shuffling dance that he is showing  Uee so she sort of mimics him too. Narrator says she heard they have a special filming today so they went on set. 

Uee: I am soooo looking forward to it cuz oppa sings so well so it’s so great that I get to hear it live.
Joowon: there is trouble.
Camera guy says to Joowon: you must feel burdened.
Joowon: there is burden and also it’s not like I got to practice singing for a few days. since it’s cold I cant think of the lyrics. my mouth is frozen too so I will do my best.

Narrator says today’s shooting is an event to serenade Ja Eun.
narrator asks Uee: how did you feel in that moment while listening (to him sing).

Uee says she was moved. it wasn’t a scene where I was supposed to cry so much but I was touched so I think I cried more. I think I was really moved by it and it was great hearing him sing. he is so good at singing. She gives him a thumbs up.

Uee: I liked it a lot. Cuz I have the interest of both guys.
Joo won: for me I really feel the jealousy I am supposed to feel in the role and filming it as is (feeling that). Narrator asks how are Tae Hee and Ja Eun couple for real on set? She says for Uee’s sake, Joowon keeps an eye on the monitor (meaning: to check everything is going ok or was shot ok so she doesn’t have to do another take).

Uee stands there saying how cold it is so Joo won walks over and touches how cold her hands are and buttons up her jacket more. narrator says they are busy taking care of each other on the set normally –in the drama, maybe there aren’t acting? (while Joowon was buttoning her up I think she was muttering it would be harder to take off later when she has to film but he just shook his head and kept buttoning)

Uee: he jokes a lot and since TH oppa is the only one I can comfortably ask –when I first went on set to shoot, I didn’t even what “1,2,3” so he taught me a lot of stuff like that.

Uee: it’s going to be a love that makes your heart ache soon, even though we are a couple that just got started –my dad will show up and I don’t know what will happen exactly but I think it might become a love that makes your heart ache.

 

      

MS and TS have an NG for their almost kissing scene so TS complains she spit on him. The comedian who acted as TS’s blind date used her whole body to wiggle and squirm and gave him strange stares so he laughed and there was an NG. SY had an NG cuz her lines got jumbled. TS got an NG cuz his lines were jumbled. The king of NG’s that the actors chose as number one is….RSH (TB) he is playing a reporter so he has a lot of lines about the news and he gets an NG for forgetting his lines, his tongue got twisted so NG, TB says sorry cuz he did it without looking at his lines so there is second NG for forgetting his lines. TB asks if he should do it by reading his lines (like from a promptor or cue card) and goes again. just when they thought he was slowly and naturally saying his lines…but he couldnt see the lines so 3rd NG. then a person walked by behind him so a 4th NG. and he succeeded in his 5th try.  LOL – poor guy.
